Students at Nobel International School Algarve achieved successful IGCSE results with a 99 per cent pass rate and A* – C results exceeding UK results.
The school ́s overall A* to C grades exceeded the UK average of 66.9% with a pleasing 75% rate, and a high number of A*/A – 8/ 9 grades were achieved in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, English Literature, English Language, Portuguese (Foreign Language), French, History and Physical Education.
“This was a group of exceptionally hard working students who applied themselves very well for their two-year courses, and prepared well to meet their target grades, most of them improving on mock examination results and exceeding their expectations. We congratulate the students and their teachers for working on progression and achievement. Most students completed and passed an average of seven IGCSE examinations.”
Head of International Section, Maria Tomé
Whilst the school celebrates the success of all of our students, we congratulate Adrien Nagel in particular, who achieved 5 grades at A*, 1 A, 1 Grade 8 and 1 Grade 9. In 2017, examination boards began grading with numbers, with a 9 representing an A*. The new grade scale makes it clear to everyone that students have studied the new GCSEs. It also has more higher grades compared to the old A* to G grades, to give sixth forms, colleges, universities and employers the opportunity to better distinguish between students of different abilities. The bottom of a grade 7 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade A, the bottom of a new grade 4 is comparable to the bottom of the old grade C.
The hard work of the students has certainly paid off and congratulations to all of them who have showed true determination to achieve the best results they can.
