World Food Day is celebrated annually on 16 October. It is currently celebrated in more than 150 countries, Portugal no exception, and is an important occasion to raise public awareness on issues related to food and nutrition.
On Friday, 16 October 2020, Nobel Algarve marked World Food Day, a day also to commemorate the founding date of the United Nations’ Food and Agriculture Organisation in 1945.
The world is full of food heroes – from farmers to drivers, shop assistants, food bank or government representatives – who despite various challenges, such as the current COVID-19 pandemic, work hard to make sure that food makes its way from farms to our table. Here at school, we celebrated their great efforts and received a fantastic recipe book from our Food Team. At home, Year 3 used their recipe book to cook something delicious.
1º Ano’s class A also marked the date with a picnic on one of the school’s lawns. They enjoyed snacks they brought from home and had a lot of fun.
