Students from Nobel International School Algarve won a debate hosted by Vale Verde School on Wednedsay, 15th November and enjoyed a warm welcome and the opportunity to share lunch with the opposing team.
A team of Year 13 students attended the debate with two students taking the stage to debate whether or not gay couples should be allowed to adopt children. Arguing in favour, the NISA girls put a strong case forward.
Head of English Mairin-Ann Kane and Sociology Teacher Caroline Simoes accompanied the students. Ms Kane said: “Both sides gave interesting and compelling arguments and despite having almost full support at the beginning, the opposition did successfully manage to swing 1/5th of the votes their way, through a very unique, unexpected and well researched approach. Although we had eight supporters with us, we were vastly outnumbered and so our team did very well indeed.”
